Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction environment

This qualification is suitable for learners wishing to develop knowledge and understanding in health and safety and is ideally suited to operators who wish to achieve the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) “Green Card” status within a construction environment.

It will prepare learners for further learning and training. It is also designed to prepare learners for employment.

Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (QCF) includes a training package to assist with the delivery to learners. The qualification is assessed by a multiple choice question paper.

Learners wishing to obtain the CSCS green operator card will still have to take the CSCS Health and Safety touch screen test.

Green Card (Industry Accreditation – Standard) who is this for?

This card is for construction operatives employed in general site work.

How is this achieved?

The card is gained through Industry Accreditation only, so applicants must be employed in general site work.

Learners must complete the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (QCF) and pass the CS Operative Health and Safety touch-screen test. For information on booking the health and safety touch-screen test contact Logis-Tech at 00 44 141 423 6911.

How long is this valid for?

The card is valid for five years. The card is renewable upon application, providing the requirements are met.

How do I apply?

To apply or renew, use the CSCS Smart card and include:

  • Copy of the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (QCF)
  • Letter confirming that the learner has passed the CSCS Operative Health and Safety (touch-screen) test
  • One good quality passport-size photo with a light background fixed in the box in Section A of the form
  • The application fee of £30 (current fee at the time of writing)

Who is it for?

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding in health and safety in a construction environment, enabling them to work effectively and efficiently in the workplace. It also provides a route for operators wishing to achieve CSCS green card status within a construction environment.

The minimum age is 16 years.

ITA funding of £200 is available to those in Scotland who earn less than £22000 per year, receive benefits (universal credit, jobseekers, etc,…) and nil income. This makes the course frre for these candidates.
